Beyond what the eyes can see!

Temperature: the seasons

Shadows: sanctuary

Values: old and new memories

Light: excitement

Color: extravagance

Texture: nature

Some dreams come and go, some change with time. The essence of a dream, I believe, never changes. The ones that were planned just for us, those always come true. They might be inside and we don’t even realize, they can develop with time or, unfortunatelly, some will be forgotten. But I know that nothing can stop it from happening, we are not that powerful!

Another pleasure about painting, a dream that came alive, is to go to places I have never been, to make my own world of colors and shapes, be myself and have not a care in the world!

This painting makes me jump to a fantasy land. It brings all together, the past of my family and the love for it. It is more than a dream, it is actually so real that I can see the house inside, the people that I want there with me, celebrating the harvest of the lavender, and write a book in my heart of my every day life.

How would it be?

I can see the house inside. From the entrance, the door on top of the stairs opens to the living room. Going down to the right, towards the lower level door, follow the aroma of the Portuguese cooking to the kitchen. Going up two steps towards the lower window is where the fun happens, the dining room. There is a door to the back of the house from the kitchen that leads to the fountain, big dinning table for more fun, fireplace and lots of wisterias hanging over from a wood frame decorated with many tiny lights. Flowers everywhere. My favorites, geraniums, delphiniums, peonies, sunflowers and lavender. For sure I would welcome many more for I love them all! There is a place for every fruit tree, grape vines, herbs for every day special meals, a vegetable garden and lots of birds, butterflies and dragonflies. The living room has a balcony to the side of the house, as well as my bedroom behind the living room. From the living room there is a hallway to the second bedroom and bathroom for my special guests. That’s it! On the side of the house, in front of the lavender field, is my art studio. I just open the door to be inspired by its fragrance and color. There is also another door to the other side and a window. I am surrounded by light and nature to create more dreams!

Sometimes I just bring a picnic outside to eat, sitting on the stone wall that my father built, drinking wine from my family's vines, having some plain bread with olive oil from the olive trees that have the Oliveiras' touch. Note that 'oliveira' in Portuguese means olive tree and my father’s last name was Oliveira. Some of the trees were planted by my grandparents. I am in the land of memories, making more memories, and dreaming some more!

Winter time we sit near the fireplace to tell stories, laugh and share love. Many blessings in just one place. From the peaceful blanket of snow to exuberayting explosions of mixed colors of the sunset, we have it all! Every season has its own special touch in our lives and i treasure it all.

This is my dream about this house but in every paint I experience a new dream. It adds to life as books to the writers and readers. Reality is also a dream come true when we surrender to the will of the Giver of life. He is the One orchestrating every dream.

I am living mine!
